BIOGRAPHY
Richard Norman Bolling was born in Huntington, WV on August 6, 1926, to Carl Levering and Mary Letiti. His siblings Carl Jr and Anna Marie Curtis. Bolling was married to his wife of 66 years, Ella Juanita. He was a 1943 graduate of Huntington High School, where he was inducted into the HHS "Hall of Fame" for outstanding career achievement at their 1986 Centennial celebration. Following high school, he enlisted in the Army Specialized Training Program and was assigned to Ohio State University to study engineering. As the U.S. Offensive in the Pacific reached full steam, the Army found Rifleman to be in more critical supply than Engineer trainees, so he was called to active service on his 18th birthday and trained for Infantry Replacement Duty in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Star, and the Army of Occupation Japan Ribbon. He returned to civilian life in 1946. Soon after, he met and married the love of his life, the former Juanita Baisden. Continuing his education at Georgia Tech as a coop student, he graduated in 1950 with a BS in Industrial Engineering. He went to work for the American Sugar Refining Company and was assigned as the plant Industrial Engineer for their Baltimore Refinery. Courtesy of Legacy.com
