BIOGRAPHY
Inducted into the US Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, at the age of 23, Markwood Heck qualified as an Excellent Rifleman. In 1942 he graduated from Cooks and Bakers School at Fort Riley, Kansas. His unit left the United States July 21, 1943, and arrived in the Asiatic-Pacific theater on July 29. He arrived back in the U.S. on September 29, 1944, and received an Honorable Discharge from Moore General Hospital in Swannanoa, North Carolina, on January 20, 1945.
