BIOGRAPHY

Albinus was a farmer with a wife and 2 ½ year old daughter when he received his draft notification. Induction was at Ft Leavenworth Kansas. Basic training was in preparation to go to Europe but before shipping out the Germans surrendered. He then had additional weeks of training for the Pacific Theater. Traveled by troop train to Seattle and then on a troop ship for 30 days headed to Okinawa. Two days before landing on Okinawa, Japan surrendered. Al was on many patrols finding Japanese soldiers that did not know the war had ended. He spent time on Okinawa and then Japan doing clean-up of military equipment and the ravages of war. Albinus was assigned to a motor pool to maintain equipment for most of the time while overseas. Albinus returned to a farming career in Morrowville, Kansas until retirement.
