BIOGRAPHY

Richard Roling was born 04/14/1925 in Quincy, IL and graduated from Notre Dame High School. He entered the Army Air Corps 08/25/1943. Roling spent two and half weeks as a Private in Army Air Force basic training. He went on to do twenty three months in weather overserve training and three weeks in cleak non-typist training. Roling made, recorded and evaluated atmospheric elements data while serving overseas for ten months in the SW Pacific.  He noted and recorded visual observations of clouds, ceilings and visibilities order and decoded weather data. Rolin also inspected and maintained weather instruments such as barometer, recording instrument and theodolite. He operated weather teletyperwriter and was familiar with all elements of meteorology.
